KING TEA. displaying his customary early speed, opened up a commanding lead soon after the start, continued gamely though bearing out in the final stages and held COME HOME safe. The latter began 1 swiftly, improved position in the iinal quarter and closed in game fashion. FRANCES LOU worked her r way up gradually while racing on the inside, responded well tg strenuous urging and showed a good i effort. BURR HICKMAN was prominent throughout, but tired in the drive. SWALE, taken under light restraint early and saving much ground, got through on the inside approaching t. the final quarter, shook off a determined challenge from HASTY SUE and drew clear in the last seventy tv yards. HASTY SUE worked her way up on the outside under strong riding and made a bold bid in the last st quarter, but yvas not good enough. FOUNTAIN HEAD began slowly, was hard hustled and forced wide le when working his way to the leaders, then finished strongly. SLGAR DADDY had no mishaps. MUMMER, cleverly handled and never far back, moved around the leaders after straightening out in the Stretch, responded readily to urging and outstayed PERFECT MAID. The latter, a strong factor from the start, assumed a clear advantage in the last eighth, but could not withstand the winner. OUACHITA, slow to begin, worked her way up between horses and finished strongly. SURGEON DICK lost considerable ground when taken wide. MEHI was in close quarters in the last eighth. CLANSMAID, forced back entering the back stretch, was taken to the outside thereafter for racing room and, taking command after going a half mile, continued in game fashion to hold BUCK BENNY safe. The latter, a strong contender throughout, made a courageous bid under vigorous urging in the last quarter. STANISLAUS, taken in hand and saving ground for a half mile, moved up in threatening fashion, but tired in the drive. SANG-STEE, outrun for three-quarters, was taken to the outside and closed with a rush. SWEEP WINE gave way after being prominent for three-quarters. PEGGYS SUN was placed on the outside of the gate for the start, was much used gaining a contending position in the first half mile and gave way suddenly in the last quarter. PIPSON, taken back off the pace and held under snug restraint for three-quarters, moved up rapidly when placed to pressure, then wore down MARLIE MAY in the last sixteenth. MARLIE MAY assumed a safe lead soon after the start, set the pace under steadying restraint and responded courageously to urging, but was unable to stall off the rush of the winner. GREAT SMOKE raced well up fur the entire trip and held on well. HIGH FIDELITY, slow to settle into his best stride and forced to race wide, closed a good gap. THISTLE RED came from a long way back. NEW DISCOVERY, rated off the pace but never far out of it, responded readily when briskly shaken up in the final quarter, disposed of MISS DIAMOND and held STAR LINA safe, the latter, taken wide throughout, finished strongly under vigorous handling and was getting to the winner in the final stages. COOLING SPRING began slowly, worked his way up on the inside and finished with a rush. MISS DIAMOND, a strong contender from the start, lost a stirrup midway in the stretch and but for this might have been closer. CHESTNUT BUR made up some ground in the last quarter. MILK moved up with a rush after going a quarter, was placed to extreme pressure thereafter, but could not threaten the winner. GAY JAY made up ground rapidly in the final quarter. OPOCA, never far out of it and under light restraint early, moved up alter straightening out in the stetch, but faltered near the end. PERSUADER began slowly and closed a big gap.
