BOSTON, Mass., June 16.— Mrs. W. R. Flemmings Loveday upset one of the warmest favorites of the meeting as she drove to victory three-quarters of a length in front of Brookmeade Stables Personage in the Stat-in ler Purse, a six furlongs event, for three-ll" year-old fillies, which featured todays sport at Suffolk Downs. Earl Porter, riding his first winner of the meeting, lashed down hard in the final drive to land the daughter of Petee-Wrack home on top, moving from third place to make his challenge. Fanfare Farms Hazel F. was a close third, finishing half a length off the runner-up. Tetragyn was fourth. Zenana and Ballinderry were the only other starters. The latter came back bleeding from the mouth. The battle down the back stretch was a hectic one, with Hazel F., Personage and Tetragyn fighting it out liead and head, with the lead see-sawing back* and forth. Loveday moved to third place as Tetragyn began to back up around the turn. In the stretch, Personage showed the way by a head to Hazel F., with Loveday a length off the battling pair. Porter began to bear down hard on Loveday at the sixteenth post, went past Hazel F., and then passed Person-id age to win going away slightly. The winner finished in l:14,js over a track officially designated as fast, but one which was slightly dead from recent rains. The day was warm and sunny.
