TORONTO, Ont , June 16.— Duffer in Park opens today for the final meeting of the Toronto spring racing season. The half mile course situated in the heart of the city on Duffcrin Street, midway between College and Bloor Streets, is one of the most popular on the North American continent. It has rivalled the major tracks of the Province in attendance and mutuel handle and for the past decade has held its own with the more spacious plants, Numerous features are carded for the seven-day session headed by the running of the re-match race for the starters in the Orpen Memorial. This event, at one mile and one-sixteenth for a purse of ,000, which Fred A. Orpen arranged after the running of the original Long Branch feature which ended so unsatisfactorily. The track proper at the half mile plant is at ■ its best and has been used for the training of many of the locally-owned horses since early spring. It was the first track opened for training purposes in the city, The same officials headed by W. A. Hew-ab itt, of the I. C. R. A., will make up the per-tst sonnel of the official family to supervise the racing. The first race will be called to the post each afternoon at 2:30 oclock, E. D. T., while the "Daily Double- will be held on the first and second events.
