HOLE -IN-ONE GOLFER FAILS MICHIGAN CITY, Ind., June 21.— Harry , Gonder, 25-year-old professional, gave up , early today after failing in almost seven- teen hours of continuous effort to score a | hole-in-one. His hands blistered and sore, i his back weary and his arms leaden, Gonder j stopped firing after his 1,817th drive failed ; to settle in the cup on the 136-yard tenth I i hole of the Beverly Shores Country Club course. Gonder began his marathon at 10 a. m. yesterday to win a 5 friendly wager . from William Voltz, "duffer" golfer, who 1 scored an ace on the tenth hole some weeks 1 ago. The young pro had tried to -prove that i "if a 100 shooter can make a hole-in-one, anybody can." j 1
