A. Veit Gamester — Accolade Head Behind— Midair Takes Winchester. BOSTON, Mass., June 21.— K. A. Veits Sun Inplay, one of the gamest horses in training and eligible for the 0,000 Massachusetts Handicap, took the lead on the far turn and held it to the end to win the three-quarters Bedford Purse, which featured the warmest day of racing of the Suffolk Downs season. Ruperto Donoso, who was completing a double, had the winner a head clear of Donley Christmas honest old Accolade. E. D. Shaffers Evening Shadow, which set the pace for a quarter of a mile, finished third, two and one-half lengths off the runner-up. Lakeview was fourth. Evening Shadow broke in front in this event but was rapidly outrun by Court Dance. The latter in turn surrendered the lead to Sun Inplay as they made the run to the three-eighths post. Sun Inplay increased his advantage to a length on the turn for home, with Accolade moving at her in determined fashion as they hit the final straightaway. ACCOLADE DANGEROUS. A sixteenth out Sun Inplay was only half length in front. Accolade was charging at her hard and heavy. There Donoso, one of the best stretch riders in the business, bore down and managed to lead to the end. Evening Shadow had plenty of early speed and came again in the stretch after being headed. Lakeview broke fast, but dropped back, then closed stoutly in the final drive. The winner went the distance in 1:12% over fast track. Leo J. Marks Midair, under strong handling from Joe Rosen, charged down the final sixteenth in determined fashion to win the Winchester Purse, supporting feature on the card, by a neck over Sheldon Fairbanks Range Dust, which set the pace to the final fifty yards of the race. Rosedale Stables Hoptown Lass finished a distant third, three lengths off the runner-up and a neck in advance of Pomary. The time was 1:133. Range Dust went to the van at once with Trustworthy in attendance to the far turn. There Tetragyn took up the chase. Midair moved r to second place around the turn for home, challenged the leader and won inching away. Hoptown Lass, well back early, closed a a world of ground in the final eighth of a r mile.
