| ARLINGTON PARK NOTES . g Arthur B. Hancock, noted breeder, has been named honorary steward for the Arlington Park meeting, opening here on June 26, announced Maj. L. A. Beard today. The master of Claiborne Stud in Kentucky and Ellerslie Stud in Virginia, Hancock has such stallions standing at his places as Blenheim II., Gallant Fox, Sir Gallahad III., Reigh Count, Omaha, Diavolo, Pompey and Jacopo. Jockey Johnny Longden, leading rider of America in 1938, will arrive at Arlington Park Thursday to ride for the establishments trained by Don Cameron. Agent Dave Withers reports that Longden has been engaged to r le Winston Guests Drudgery in the Inaugural Handicap Monday. The boy has been visiting in western Canada since leaving New York. Trainer William E. Martin arrived from North Randall with Drudgery, owned by Winston Guest, member of Americas inter-notional polo team, and two horses racing under the colors of Mrs. Marting, Anglo Saxon and Lady Infinite. William Davis, patrol judge at Arlington Park, arrived today and reported to racing secretary R. S. Shelley. George Swain, also a patrol judge, got in several days ago. Starter Roy Dickerson arrived from Wheeling, W. Va., and began schooling horses at the Arlington Park barrier Wednesday. Schooling hours will be between 6 and 8 each morning. Elizabeth Bosley, one of the countrys few women trainers and who has developed several outstanding thoroughbreds, wired for accommodations for ten horses. C. J. FitzGerald, Jr., was here Wednesday morning and will be out daily assisting in preparations for the meeting. For the past several days he has served as steward at Lincoln Fields, acting for his father. Valdina Farms will be represented here by thirty-three horses, one of the largest stables on the grounds. The last of the horses were moved here from Lincoln Fields Tuesday. A number of smaller stables have come in from North Randall, Detroit, Fairmount Park and other points. R. S. Shelley, racing secretary, urges all horsemen to have their stable registrations in his hands as quickly as possible. Badges, he said, would be issued immediately upon receipt of registrations. It is important he pointed out, that as much of this work aa possible be completed Saturday.
