EXPEL BRITISH CONSUL BERLIN, Germany, June 21.— Expulsion of British Consul-General Donald St. Clair Gainer from his post in Vienna, in retaliation for Englands dismissal on espionage charges of German Consul Walther Rein-hardt from Liverpool, was ordered by the Reich government today. The charges brought against Gainer were identical with those brought by Britain against Reinhardt. LONDON, England, June 21.— German Consul Walther Reinhardts expulsion followed conviction and sentence of James Kelly, English worker, on charges of having violated the official secrets act. Prime Minister Chamberlain announced in the House of Commons that there was indisputable evidence Reinhardt had been involved in an attempt by Kelly to dispose of the plans of a new government factory in Lancashire, "to a foreign government." Following Reinhardts expulsion, the German government promised swift retaliation and Gainers dismissal resulted. Gainer is a veteran English diplomat of prominence.
