CRETE, 111., June 21.— Latonia Is to have twilight racing for its summer meeting, beginning June 29, it was announced here today by Col. Matt J. Winn, president of the American Turf Association. Colonel Winn 1 and his associates arrived at this decision today after considering the probable popularity of such racing in the Greater Cincinnati area and after hearing reports of the success of similar sport at the Detroit Fair Grounds and at North Randall. C Colonel Winn said that twilight racing r would be conducted daily exceot Saturdays , t and July 4, and that these programs would | c start at 4:30 p. m. The Saturday and July 4 j cards will be started at 2:15 p. m. * a LAST RACE 7:30. ! Under a schedule arranged for Latonia, t the last event on the eight-race program will a be over in time so that fans can be on their I t way out of the track by 7:30 p. m., or well j J before nightfall. Twilight racing will have j g one important advantage to fans, for it will start late enough in the day to miss much o of the hottest part of the afternoon. A In preparation for evening racing, Latonia p is enlarging its dining room in the club- J A. house, and installing a new restaurant and i ii cafeteria in the grandstand to provide for n guests who wish to dine at the track. I Colonel Winn also said that popularly-priced I meals would be served in the two rooms. Lights are being installed wherever neces- | p sary on the grounds, and the parking cnclos- i I ures also are being wired for electricity. r Twilight racing has proved a boon to the j s sport at Detroit, where daily programs now I u are offered in the evenings, and business at fj North Randall also has picked up materially since the introduction of the policy.
