RED DIAMOND, hard hustled to gain the lead in the first eighth, drew into a long lead midway of the turn, but tired badly in the final sixteenth and just lasted to stall off EILEEN D. The latter was a stout factor from the beginning, responded nicely when shaken up in the stretch, closed well and was catching the winner with every stride. MINTHERA gradually improved her position and Was closing ground in the "final quarter mile. VERTNER displayed good speed until the final eighth. MAGIC SHADOW raced on the inside throughout and never threatened. The others were outrun. GRAND TOKEN showed early speed, obtained a short lead before entering the stretch, but tired in the final sixteenth and was no match for the winner. MARSAIL, well up from the start, closed well through the stretch I and earned a dead-hcat for "third with GOANWIN. The latter raced close up all the way and continued well to the finish. CLARET PUNCH had early speed. TROUBLEMARK lacked speed and never threatened. LYONS NIGHT quit badly. KISSINBUG, never far from the pace while racing under slight restraint, closed with good courage, but could not threaten the leaders.
