PR0PH PROVES BARGAIN CLAIM Captures Second Purse in as Many Starts for Medway Stable. Defeats Woodsaw and Drift Along in Featured Jackson Purse at Rockingham Under Stevensons Good Ride. SALEM, N. H., July 28. Proph once again proved himself a profitable claim for Medway Stable, by capturing the Jackson Purse, six furlongs test that headlined todays program at Rockingham Park. It was the second time that the High Time horse sported the Medway silks, and on each occasion has been returned winner. In taking the feature, the High Time five-year-old scored by the matter of a length over Mrs. J. A. Nixs Woodsaw, the public choice. Third place went to Drift Along, from the A. C. C. Stable. Woodsaw was sent to the front at once. In the run down the far side of the track, Xanthein followed along in nearest chase as he disputed the lead. Proph, last out of the stalls, was well back during the first five-sixteenths. Woodsaw had little trouble in putting Xanthein away, and for an instant "had daylight showing between his closest rival. Stevenson had worked his way to the leaders gradually, with Proph, and near the turn for home had all but the pacemaker headed. During the early running, Last Message held to third place but, svinging around the far turn, began dropping back. Adams had Woodsaw along in front, and into the stretch roused the Cherokee colt several times. At the furlong post the Mrs. Nix racer still held his lead. It was then that Stevenson called upon Proph for his best, and instantly it was forthcoming. Inside the last sixteenth, Proph was driven slightly in advance of the early pacemaker. Kept under a drive, the Medway five-year-old increased his lead to a length, as the finishing line was passed. Woodsaw, after being overtaken, continued determinedly and was clear of Drift Along. The A. C. C. Stable performer loomed up menacingly making the turn into the stretch, but was found wanting when placed to a drive, although finishing willingly. Although there were threats of rain during the early afternoon the crowd was quite up to the usual standard and well in advance of that of last season for a week-day.
