MARY RYAN WINS SWIM MEET DES MOINES, Iowa, July 28. Mary M. Ryan of the Lakeside Club, Louisville, Ky., only 14 years old, captured first place in the senior womens one mile free style championship at the National A. A. TJ. swimming meet here. Miss Ryan finished almost twenty-five yards before Nancy Merki, only 13 years of age, from the Multnomah Athletic Club of Portland, Ore. The winner covered the distance in 24:12.8.
