FUTURITY AND HANDICAP AU REVOIR FEATURES S Arlingtons Juvenile Stake Attracts Brilliant Band of Youngsters Race Considered Wide Open Affair, With Roman Flag Slight Favorite Track Conditions Uncertain . Twelve Named Overnight Seven in Handicap ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, 111., July 28. The rich Arlington Futurity which annually brings together some of the best two-year-olds in training will engage another strong field tomorrow, when it is offered as the principal feature of the final days racing at Arlington Park. The Futurity which is expected to attract a crowd of more than 25,000 persons will top a program which also will include a renewal of the Arlington Handicap a. run of a mile and a quarter for older horses. The juvenile fixture to be contested at six furlongs, drew a field of twelve, and if all of them start the race will have a gross value of 9,830, and will net the winner the considerable sum of 5,735. Seven have been named for the handi- 3cap, to which a ,000 purse will be added. The splendid records of most of the contestants in the Futurity, which will be run tomorrow for the eighth time, leaves little to choose among some of them, and prospects are for a thrilling renewal of the stake. Some of the more highly regarded youngsters scheduled to strive for honors in the closing day feature are Arnold Hangers Roman Flag, winner of the Mayflower Stakes at Suffolk Downs; E. R. Bradleys unbeaten Bimelech, hailed by many in the East as the best two-year-old yet uncovered this year; "Mr. Frenchs" Boy Angler, another undefeated youngster; Milky Way Farms Tough Hombre, a romping winner here several days ago; J. O. Keenes War Beauty, runner-up to Now What in the Arlington Lassie Stakes; R. A. Firestones Marogay, a stakc3 winner at Hialeah Park, early in the year; Mrs. Parker Comings fleet Straight Lead, and the Woolford Farms Inscolad. MANY ENTRIES. Roman Flag, which will run as part of an entry, with Straight Lead, looms a slight favorite in a wide-open race, in which victory for any of a half-dozen of the contestants would not be a great surprise. Next in public fancy may be Bimelech which, with his running mate, Boy Angler, presents a powerful threat. Under the conditions of the contest, Roman Flag will shoulder top weight of 122 pounds. Marogay must carry 119, and all the rest, except War Beauty and the Millsdale Stables Andy K., 117. War Beauty, the only filly in the field, gets in with 114. as does Andy K., the only maiden among the entries. Besides those already -named, the Futurity field includes Milky Ways Charitable, C. Andrade III.s Liberty Franc and Woolford Farms Quenemo, to round out as smart a field as ever has tried for honors in the juvenile special, the richest of the year, thu3 far, for horses of this age. The only stable in a position to repeat in the Futurity is the Milky Way Farm, which won the stake in 1936 with Case Ace, and the following year sent Tiger out to dead-heat Teddys Comet for top honors. SLOW FOOTING. Prospects this morning were that the race would be run on a track no better than slow, for the course was sloppy when entries closed today. The Arlington Handicap also drew an attractive field, including such capable routers as Stands Alone, Mucho Gusto Count dOr, Eagle Pass, Melodist, Some" Count and Her Reigh. This race has a powerful background, for among its previous winners were such stars as Misstep, Sun Beau, Equipoise and Discovery. Supporting the two stakes will be six other attractive events which should bring the Arlington session to a brilliant close.
