1 EMPIRE CITY TURF NOTES s $ Charley Lynch, one of the veterans of racing, who has been an absentee for the past few years, died at his Nyack, N. Y., home early this week. Albert Sabath, of the Hawthorne track of Chicago, was among the visitors. He will stay for several days. Jack Campbell said that entries for the opening day at Saratoga would close at Empire City and the upstate track at 11 oclock Saturday morning. The entries will be released from both points shortly after the compilation. E. R. Bradley is confined to his Garden City, L. I., apartment with a slight illness. The veteran owner and breeder expects to make the trip to Saratoga Springs some time next wek. J. G. "Bully" Wagnon announcd Thursday that he had resigned as trainer for the Snow White Stable. His plans for the immediate future, he said, would be held in abeyance until the Saratoga season. Irish Moon was claimed out of the third race Thursday from Isadore Bieber by H. J. Bundscho for ,500. Bieber recently purchased the horse at private terms. Philly Hyams entertained two of his old Australian friends during the day when Wal-lie Ross and Charlie Tognini, both from Melbourne, were visitors. They are both familiar figures of the Australian turf. Jockey L. Haas is suspended the final day of the meeting and ten additional racing days to August 9, 1939, inclusive, for rough riding in the second race July 27 by order; of the stewards.
