CALIFORNIA WINE LEADER SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., July 28. According to figures released by the Wine Institute, California led all the other states in the consumption of wine during the year 1938. California, New York, Illinois, New Jersey, Louisiana and Ohio consumed 43,617,-641 gallons of wine, which represented 65 per cent of the years total for all forty-eight states.
