LAST RITES FOR J. 8. RESPESS Large Gathering of Turfmen Present to Pay Last Respects to Noted Breeder and Owner. LATONIA, Ky., July 28 Last rites were held this afternoon at Highland Farm for Jerome B. Respess, 75-year-old turfman and breeder, who died Tuesday, with interment in Highland Cemetery. Following impressive Masonic ceremonies and an eulogy delivered by Rev. William G. Pendleton of Trinity Church of Covington, Ky., the remains were laid to rest with a large gathering of the racing fraternity present to pay their last respects to the Ken-tuckian. Thousands of friends and acquaintances passed the bier of "Rome" Respess in the past two days in last tribute to the memory of a man who did much for the promotion of the thoroughbred sport in other states as well as his native Kentucky. Many of the close friends of the deceased came from other cities to attend the burial. Disposition of the thoroughbred holdings of the late J. B. Respess will be made later, it was announced. In addition to eleven horses he had in training at Latonia at the time of his death there are a number of brood mares, sucklings, weanlings, yearlings and the stallion Byrd, included in the estate.
