Wideners Vaudeville. S. D. Sidells Allies Pal and Mrs. J. V. Stewarts Singing Doll are also eligible for the event and listed by Shea as possibilities. Rampart, a favorite with New Jersey racegoers, frequently has played the role of giant killer admirably and well. A little more than a year ago when Calumet Farms great Armed was a ball of fire, the sleek and lithe daughter of Trace Call beat j | him in the Gulfstream Handicap. Last] I spring in Garden State Parks Valley Forge Handicap, the ebony-coated maid ran up against a smart band of sprinters including William G. Helis Rippey. In this fixture, as in the Gulfstream a few months before, she was victorious over one of the giants of the turf when Rippey finished at her withers. Rampart Recent Havre Winner In all, Rampart finished in front in seven stakes last season. She raced to victory at Havre de Grace several days ago in an overnight event, indicating she has retained her speed of other years. She gets in the Colonial with 116 pounds and this way weighted, may be hard to handle. Itsabet is a first class filly, too. She triumphed in the 1948 renewal of the Colonial, and followed this with scores in the Prioress Stakes and the Wilmington Handicap. In the Colonial, she will be under 118 pounds. Ocean Brief shipped in from New York a few days back and comes up to the Colonial with a winning performance in the Correction Handicap at Jamaica to her credit. She is highweight of the party under 120 pounds. Irisen is also a stakes winner of the past semester. The daughter of Sweep Like was home in last years running of the William P. Burch Memorial Handicap at Bowie. Irisen is in the Colonial under 115. Delta Queen qualified impressively for her engagement in the Colonial when she sped to victory in Tuesdays Garden State Park program. Two Lea comes up to the Colonial from a winning performance less than a week ago at Havre de Grace. In the Pink is a stakes winner of last season and cannot be overlooked in the search for the winner of the event. Three of the Colonial aspirants were on the racing strip at Garden State Park this morning. Bullow went a half mile in :48%, breezing. My Celeste went the same distance in identical time, while Two Lea sped a half mile in :49y5, also breezing. Rampart had a private trial on Wednesday, going five furlongs in 1:00%.
