Illinois Notes SPORTSMANS PARK, Cicero, HI., May 5. The thoroughbred colony here was augmented today with the arrival of Busy Mattie, Preferred Trout, Preferred One, Busy Fiz and Take Wing. Clyde Trout brought the quintet from his farm in Benton, 111. Take Wing, owned by Mrs. Clyde Trout, is a stakes winner on this circuit. Trout is returning to his duties as a trainer after being idle because of illness since mid-summer last year. The maroon and white silks of the Wool-ford Farm will be represented by 28 thoroughbreds during the approaching Lincoln Fields-at-Washington Park meeting, trainer Johnny Nerud revealed today. Among the sizable string which will be campaigned during the 30-day session at the Homewod track is Delegate, Leavenworth, Legislator, and a number of promising two-year-olds. J. E. Oros added to the contingent he is conditioning here, Sir Harkee and Harkinell, owned by Mrs. C. F. Taylor. The pair came from a farm near Oswego, 111. Frank Carr is here handling stall ap-Ak-Sar-Ben and Wheeling Downs. Ak-Sar-Ben at Omaha, Nebr., opens May 24, for a run of 32 days. Wheeling Downs, in Wheeling, W. Va., begins a 55-day meeting on July 30. Apprentitce Harry Holcomb, who saw action during this meeting here, departs today for Cleveland, Ohio, where he will resume riding at the Thistle Down-at-Ran-dall Park meeting. Dudley Woolfok will handle his engagements at the Ohio course. Trainer Glen Gorbet announced he is leaving for Randall Park, near Cleveland, Ohio, with the 10 horses he has here for various patrons. The shipment to the Ohio track will include Sweet Irene, a winner here yesterday, Fly Demon and Wood H. Dan Chan, Fourth Floor, Alice P. and Chicken Ann made up the shipment owner and trainer F. J. Marvin brought in today from Oaklawn Park and quartered at Hawthorne race track.
