Maryland Notes PIMLICO, Baltimore, Md., May 5. Benny Civitello, who was to have ridden here for the first two days of the meeting, altered his plans at a late date and was due to leave this afternoon for Detroit. He will be accompanied by Mark Fator, the pair joining trainer Jim Rad-ney for the 80 -day meeting at the Fair Grounds course. Hubert "Dynamite" Kerr is stringing along with his old favorite, Dizzy Dame, now that shes retired for breeding purposes. One of her offspring he named Dizzy Dame Jr., and another was entered here today named Son o Diz. He is by Swashbuckler. Trainer George Mohr has taken over the conditioning of Sam Greenfields Big T. O., Mrs. R. Steins Watermelon and Henry Hechts Pied Piper for the current meeting. Jimmy Rowan, successful young conditioner of the Sylvester W. Labrot, Jr., thoroughbreds, is confined to Emergency Hospital, Annapolis, Md., following an appendectomy. Danny Shea, master of Merryland Farm, who tied J. H. Pierce for the honor of being leading trainer of the Havre de Grace meeting, with seven victories to his credit, will have a sizable band of thoroughbreds in action during the Pimlico session. Pierce will not be on hand to defend his laurels as he shipped to Garden State Park. Stewart Sears of the staff of the Maryland Horse Breeders Association, was on hand this morning to provide the usual Maryland-bred file for the secretarys office and to handle all other details connected with the operation of his office. Preston Burch, trainer of the Brook -meade Stable, was an arrival from New York, to supervise the work of the division quartered here. Burch will have an entry of Chains and Inseparable in Saturdays Dixie Handicap.
