_ . . A Albulil Accorded Favorites Role in Sportsmans Sprint Price Gelding Ran Second 1 Last Out; Sunstorm, Sala Lou Are Main Contenders SPORTSMANS PARK, Cicero, 111., May 5. — Mrs. M. Price, wife of a Chicago Heights, 111., automobile dealer, appears to hold a powerful hand in the Roguish Eye Purse here tomorrow afternoon. Her good campaigner, Albulil, makes his third start of the meeting in the seven-furlong dash and all indications point to the seven-year-old playing the favorites role. Once a campaigner against first-class opposition. Albums mellow age has dimmed his speed slightly, but against the type of competition in the headliner he seems to be exceptionally well placed. The gelded son of Bull Dog — Lilac Day, by Eternal, was badly beaten in his initial outing here against ,000 claiming company, but that obviously fitted him for his next effort, in which he finished second to Sweet Dough at the same distance of the Roguish Eye. He was warmed up thoroughly before the race and during the running he led until the last two or three jumps, where he succumbed to the winners belated rush. Opposing him will be C. Clinton and J. Byrds Newsworthy, E. Reas Sangone, M. Smiths Straeth, T. Westropes Royalong, L. Schlosser, Jr.s, Gift of Peace, Roanoke Stables Prince Port Au, J. Simon and R. Wilkinsons Sala Lou, W. T. Beezleys Sun-storm and Jim Sands Journal. Claimed for ,500 Last June Owner Price claimed Albulil last June at Washington Park for ,500 and since then has raced the gelding sparingly. During the Oaklawn Park season he scored one victory, beating Sangone, Fancy Fun, Pink Chance and others, and it was after that triumph that he was shipped here. Sangone, although decisively beaten by Albulil at Oaklawn when they last met, since has won a race over this track in impressive style and appears to be an improving type. Rea obtained him via the halter route at Oaklawn for ,500 and, under his new owner, he has finished second and won in a pair of starts. The gelding was given a light campaign at the Fair Grounds. New Orleans, meeting, and while he did not win he showed enough to make his presence felt on occasions. When he appeared for the first time of the meeting here last week he was away last in the field, but quickly gained his stride, forged to the front early and thenrew away to win by two lengths in spite of having lost some ground on the turns. Gift of Peace has not started over this course but flashed fine speed at Oaklawn Park. In one race at a mile and one-sixteenth he won off by five lengths in a manner that indicated he completely outclassed his ,500 claiming opposition. It is reported that he has trained smartly since arriving here. Sala Lou and Sunstorm, rated among the contenders, have engaged each other twice during the meeting, with each holding a decision. However, in both races they were forced to bow to Darby Doodit. Of the two, however, Sala Lou apparently possessed the most early speed, a factor that should be in her favor at the distance. Both of her recent races have been a mile and one-sixteenth and she has held the early lead until tiring. Sunstorm is a very steady sort who appears to be at the peak of his form. He has a fair turn of foot and it may be that his usual late rush will fit well against the sharp early speed that is slated to contest the issue in the feature.
