BILL ROSS, a keen factor from the start, went to the front entering the stretch, continued gamely under strong handling and withstood BEACH MOSS. The latter, never far back, was sent to the outside for the drive and, responding well when hard ridden, finished well, but could not reach the winner. SANTA CLAUS began fast and dropped back after going a quarter, then raced evenly. MAGNUS saved ground entering the stretch, but failed to rally when set down in the drive. ORISKANY began sluggishly. PINK DEVIL, in hand to the last three-eighths, responded readily when set down for the stretch" run, but could not reach the winner. TED MOSQUERO, reserved to the final quarter, was unable to better his position when hard ridden through the stretch. HI NEIGHBOR lacked early speed, but finished fast. MILITARY SIR tired after racing prominently to the stretch. SIR MONTE gave way after displaying early speed. MIAMI ROSE was tiring when roughed during the drive.
