Remembering in Front From Start to Finish Veteran Holds Sir Fanar at Bay To Take Thistle Down Offering RANDALL PARK, North Randall, Ohio, May 26. — Remembering, a 10-year-old veteran and winner of many lesser handicaps during his several years of campaigning in the Midwest, this afternoon gave evidence that he has not forgotten the way in which races are won and led his field from flag-fall to finish in capturing the six-furlong fifth race by a length and a quarter. Mrs. J. Bronnenbergs Sir Fanar made a futile charge in the drive to finish second, a similar margin before Hall and Fetzers mare Side Order. Glenn Gorbets Sweet Irene was unable to emulate her two successes at Sportsmans Park before shipping here and was unable to place better than fourth in the field of 10. The successful gray son of Identify and Minstrelsy carried the bright green and brown silks of owner-trainer W. J. McClure, and was ridden by Billy Floyd. Remembering was the first favorite of this cool afternoon to gladden the hearts of the majority of 3,400, and paid .20. The time of 1:13% which was posted following the running, was indicative of the dullness of the racing strip that was officially designated as good. Floyd did a nice job of hustling Remembering away from the starting gate, and settled him into a clear lead before completing the first quarter. From there home, it wsa a matter of keeping the long striding gelding next to the inside rail, while setting an even pace. He then held his field at bay in the drive under strong hand urging. Sir Fanar was well placed from the beginning, following closely in third position until the stretch, where he moved forward gradually to capture the place money. Side Order, a two-time winner at this course, was the closest to Remembering, but was unable to draw abreast of him under continuous pressure and weakened slightly in the final run. Robert Pools High Spirits, another racer to have been victorious on two occasions here, was unable to show his usual speed away from the gate, and never was a serious factor while finishing a well-beaten seventh.
