Longacres 54-Day Meet Will Open on June 25 SEATTLE, Wash., May 26.— Long-acres 54-day summer season will open on schedule, June 25, it was deter-ducted by the Washington Horse Racing Commission Wednesday evening. A dispute over the naming of Washington Jockey Club officials, which had caused president Joe Gottstein to withdraw his application, was satisfactorily resolved by commissioners William Fitzgerald, A. W. Weitzman and Frank Christman. Dr. W. J. Mc-Keon, who served as racing secretary the past two years, asked to withdraw his name from consideration because of the commission conflict. The name of Mannie Keller was then submitted as racing secretary and unanimously approved. Keller, who had been director of racing in 1947-48, will serve in both capacities this season. Gottstein announced that Dr. Mc-Keon will be employed as assistant to the president, a position which will utilize his experience as veterinarian and racing official.
