: —. 1 Bar Sinister Will Be Shipped To Suffolk for Constitution Shelby Clark Will Pilot Vanderbilt Colt Tomorrow; Petey Cotter Is Doubtful SUFFOLK DOWNS, East; Boston, Mass., May 26. — Two major developments in the possible line-up for Saturdays ,500 added Constitution Handicap is the main topic of discussion at Suffolk Downs this morning. The announcement from New York that Alfred G. Vanderbilt will be represented in the mile and one-sixteenth feature by Bar Sinister, a brown colt by Bahrain — Savage Beauty, adds luster to the race. Another report of equal importance is that A. P. Cotters well-regarded Petey Cotter is now considered a doubtful starter for Saturdays event. The latter announcement comes after the publishing of the weights for the Constitution, in which the son of Saint Andrews — Scrambled Eggs was assigned top impost of 122 pounds. In conjunction with the report received from Belmont Park regarding the plans for shipping Bar Sinister to Suffolk Downs, it also was announced that jockey Shelby Clark has been engaged to ride the Vanderbilt colt. Clark will therefore have an opportunity to duplicate last years triumph when he successfully piloted C. V. Whitneys Quarter Pole in the Constitution. Winner of Two Races This Year The appearance of Bar Sinister in the Constitution should not dampen the spirits of any local aspirants. In 10 races, this season competing against sophomores of a similar caliber as he will meet in Saturdays test, Bar Sinister won twice, each time at six furlongs. The homebred colt appears well suited at the Constitution distance, however, having finished second to Greentree Stables One Hitter on two occasions, both at a mile and one-sixteenth. There is a good possibility that one more invader will be among the starters in the Constitution. Dave Shaters Engel Man, who raced successfully on this circuit last season as a juvenile and more recently has been performing well on the Metropolitan circuit, may be sent to trainer W. D. Carroll. Carroll is conditioning a division of the Shaer string at Suffolk Downs and expects word from New York later today regarding the chances of the Ladysman colt being shipped here for his engagement. Definite starters among the locals in- elude Mort Stuarts Best Doings, Marlet Stables Sneak, Murray Hill Farms Boo Boo Shoo, C. E. Tuttles Double Brandy, L. H. Johnsons Var, Mr. and Mrs. L. G. Bedwells Bearing Clear and D. A. Rosen-baums American Glory. Two of the local aspirants were on the track this morning in preparation for Saturdays fixture. Best Doings was sent a mile in 1:43% and was only, breezing. Sneak accomplished a handy five furlongs in 1:04%. The others have been training smartly and will receive their final blowouts tomorrow and Saturday morning.
