LUNCH DATE went to the front early, established a clear lead before reaching the stretch and, responding to a steady hand ride, "held SWIFT TOWN safe. The latter worked way forward steadily on the outside and closed gamely under punishment, but could not reach the winner, although easily best of the others. FIFTH lacked early Speed, but finished strongly. BALLYRAG raced evenly without mishap. GERRYS BUD began fast and engaged LUNCH DATE to the itretch, then tired. MAKING MERRY was outrun. PARIC0 was far back throughout HYWICK could not keep up. TENOS had brief speed. K. COOKIE dwelt at the start, losing all chance. TURBAN went to the front soon after the start, made the pace to the stretch under occasional urging, then withstood a; brisk drive-to retain his advantage while drifting out in the final furlong. MYTY PHAR, never far back, made a good bid entering the stretch, but was unable to overtake the winner: HOT CHOCOLATE held on well in a sharp effort. BLUE GOLD raced evenly and had no mishap. OCAWY was outrun. MIBOYS SUGAR never seriously threatened. DOC STEARN had brief speed, but failed to stay. PETRIAD was far back throughout. BOSS MEADOWS began fast, then dropped far back. CHORALIER went to the front early, made the pace until inside the stretch, but could not hold the winner, although easily best of the others. RAVEN REWARD, outrun early, finished well, but could not reach the leaders. SULTY tired after showing speed to the stretch. CAPRIOLE began slowly and raced greenly. DREAM COMFORT could not keep up. CARMEN, a sharp factor after the initial furlong, held a clear advantage, when settled in the stretch and won without urging. DOGS UP raced evenly to the stretch, then closed gamely, but could not threaten the winner. BROWN BROCADE assumed command at once, held on well to the stretch, then faltered. MAVIEW, outrun to the stretch, was sent to the outside for the drive and finished fast in a good effort. DREAMY KAREN had no excuse. JADEITE, fractious at the. post, unseated her rider and galloped off a slow half, broke well, but failed to stay after showing brief speed. EXTORTION raced prominently to the final furlong, then weakened. AUNT DORA was never a serious factor. LILY PERFUME raced greenly. FIFTH RACE 1 1-16 MILES. Joes Choice, July 4, 1947— 1:43V — 5— 107. BLUE GRIP, slow to reach best stride and outrun to the stretch, was sent to the inside of SHAKEME during the drive, but could not get to the latter while under brisk handling. TIMELTEL, away fast, held on well throughout and had no mishap. FISH FRY made a good bid entering the q stretch, then faltered nearing the finish. The latter raced evenly to the stretch, was sent between horses for the drive and, closing strongly, was getting to the winner at the finish. KOSADUS lacked early speed, saved ground when sent to the inside for the stretch run and closed determinedly in a sharp effort. NITROMOND assumed command at. once, made the pace to the last sixteenth, then faltered. WATCH SUSAN, outrun to the final quarter, finished fast under brisk urging. MR. TUCK began sluggishly. DAINTY MAID tired after racing well to the stretch. SKY.HEELS held on well to the, last eighth, then gave way. CONNIES BOY tired after engaging NITROMOND to the stretch. VOLUNTEER was done early. CHOCK ABLOCK, far back and outrun to the stretch; moved up fast to take command when shaken up, then drew clear without need of urging. REDGIE, never far back, responded readily when hard ridden through the stretch, but could not menace the. winner. EUGENE, outrun early, reached the lead between calls after leaving the backstretch, but could hot retain the advantage while under brisk urging. WESTY SJREAK tired after engaging PENNSTOWN to the upper turn. POLLY W., rank during the post parade and at the gate, raced wide throughout. PENNSTOWN went to the front at the start, was drifting out when tiring after going five-eighhs and tired badly after TRANQUIL TIDE struck his heels. TRANQUIL TIDE struck PENNSTOWNS heels when near the three-eighths pole and fell. - For late chart see tomorrows issue
