J., May 26.— Tide Rips, winner of the 1948 Monmouth Handicap, will attempt to repeat that six-length victory in the July 23 renewal of the 5,000 fixture. Tide Rips may also direct his useful racing talents toward the earlier Tunnihgs of the" Salvator Mile and the Long Branch Handicap, major preps for the 1949 Monmouth Handicap. Last season the chestnut colt earned 6,250 in winning the Monmouth and Brahdywine Handicaps, and finished second in the Trenton and third in the Sussex and Manhattan Handicaps. After a winters freshening he is all set for the coming June 17 inaugural at Monmouth Park.
