STAR PIGEON, a sharp factor from the start, was sent to the middle of the track for the stretch run and, responding to urging, wore down PAPPYS REBEL in the last sixteenth. PAPPYS REBEL went to the front early, made the pace until inside the stretch, but could not withstand the top one. FOXY LIZ lacked early speed, but finished fast under punishment. KY. HASH began sluggishly, was hustled to reach serious contention and could not threaten the leaders when set down iirthe drive. COUNTESS RUTH, on the outside throughout, tired during the drive. DIREGENTE raced wide for the entire trip. BEAU FORTUNE could not keep up. NEWELLS GIRL, alertly ridden, began fast and displayed early speed before tiring. ATLANTIC was through early. BARRE FLINT, well handled, assumed command soon after the start, established a clear lead before reaching the stretch and won with something left. AIRTROOP gradually improved position during the run to the stretch, closed willingly, but could not threaten the top one. HIKES POINT raced well and had no mishap. WISE CHOICE began fast, engaged BARRE FLINT to the final furlong, then weakened. JOGGINS was outrun. BOLDGER would not extend himself on the slow track. FIGHTING DEVIL showed nothing. FIGHTING JOHN, away fast and never far back, crowded DOLLYS IMAGE when moving into command near the three-furlong pole, then drew clear to win with speed in reserve. WILD HEIRESS, a keen factor from the outset, was sent to the outside for the stretch run, could not threaten the winner and lasted to hold HOOP PARADE safe. The latter lacked early speed, but could not better his position after making a good bid at the stretch turn. PRETTY TRICK had early foot, but faltered during the drive. ACTNICE saved ground throughout, but never reached serious contention. GENERAL CUSTER was outrun and had no excuse. HIGH COTTON was never prominent. DOLLYS IMAGE was hustled to the front before going a quarter, was taken up sharply when bothered by FIGHTING JOHN leaving the backstretch and failed to recover. TRIXIE raced evenly to the stretch, finished well, but could not seriously threaten the top one. DR. CRICKET was unable to overtake TRIXIE when hard ridden through the stretch. FRENCH NAVY was disqualified for fouling BILLY BUMPS and placed second. BILLY BUMPS, never far back, moved to FRENCH NAVY during the stretch run, was bothered by the latter during the drive, but finished strongly. MONTCALM was sent into command early, made the pace for three-eighths, then drifted out while tiring. ATOKA LAD raced evenly without mishap. BONNIE DONNIE was outrun. SMART EDDIE was never dangerous.
