LITTLE DICK, never far back, reached the lead before going five furlongs, maintained a slight advantage entering the stretch and, in a long drive, held WAR RULER safe. The latter, carried out on the first turn by REY EL CONEJO, responded readily when set down for the drive and gradually was overtaking the winner. UNCLE ROB failed to make up appreciable ground during the late stages. MAGNETIC STAR tired under punishment. REY EL CONEJO raced wide. BLACK CAT began sluggishly. CHANCE VOYAGE was outrun. NORM-RICH, forced to take up when in close quarters on the first turn, regained stride immediately, swung wide on the near turn and, under punishment, finished with good courage. MISS CROSSBOW tired badly during the concluding strides and was unable to hold the top ones. LERNERS GIRL lacked speed, as did SWIRLING. RED SKIN tired. BROWN GRAVY quit to a walk. GOOD HOSTESS, under light restraint for five furlongs, came out for the drive and, under gocd handling, was up in the final strides to draw clear. PEACEFUL GENIE raced MELLOTUNE into defeat to assume a clear lead entering the stretch, tired during the late stages, but was easily best of the others. MIGHTY TEXAN rallied too late to seriously endanger the leaders. ORK was unable to improve her position when placed to punishment. SEAMANS PAL had no mishap. MELLOTUNE quit. CORPORAL SONNY dwelt at the beginning and lost all chance K. DORKO and LINDA JANE showed nothing. TEMPTATION quit badly when disolaced. MALI JOHNNY raced evenly through the stretch without mishap. PERT was between horses throughout. SLIEVEMISH was eliminated when in close quarters on the far turn. SIR JACOMAR hesitated at the start and lost all chance LEAPOLINO was outrun. FLYING SANDY quit. ROTATE was through early.
