Racing Board Approves Officials at Arlington Several Changes in Staff That Will Supervise 36-Day Meeting Approval of officials who will serve at the Arlington Park meeting, which opens on June 18, was the principal business of the Illinois Racing Board at its meeting held here yesterday morning. William S. Miller, recently appointed member of the board, attended his first meeting. Stuyve-sant Peabody, Jr., chairman, and Frank R. War ton, the other member, likewise were present. Several changes are noted in the group that will supervise the sport at the North Side track this season. As previously announced, Teddy Cox, Keene Daingerfield and Aidan Roark will serve as stewards this season, along with Charles J. Gormley, Jr., and Samuel L. James, the latter representing the state. William Reagan has been appointed assistant steward, while the placing judges will be Frederic Crafton, Vasco Parke and Michael Zeller. Frank E. Kilrce returns as racing secretary and handicapper, and John J. Klucina again will be assistant racing secretary. Two paddock judges will be employed this season, with Daingerfield and Crafton filling these roles. Roy "Boots" Dickerson, veteran starter, will dispatch the fields and William Cunningham will be timer. James W. Francis, Jr., has been designated as clerk of the scales, David P. Stevens will be in charge of the totalisator department, Dr. Martin F. Kent will be veterinarian, and Clarence Brinkman, track superintendent. The board passed a rule whereby in the event 10-day suspensions for rough riding are imposed toward the close of a meeting, i the suspension will automatically carry over to the next meeting until the full 10 days will have been served. The board also voted to give a hearing to Cecil Lamb, who has been under suspension since 1938
