Goemans, prominent Milwaukee, Wis., jurist, who is represented by strong contingents of thoroughbreds on both Atlantic and Pacific coasts, accompanied by Mrs. Goemans, has just concluded a visit to Fort Worth and vicinity. Goemans, who was making his first trip to Texas and the Southwest for many years, visited some of the breeding farms in Tarrant County. The Milwaukeeans West Coast string is headed by the imported Fair Trial colt, Calstone, and is trained by Willie Molter. "I have a small farm in California, where I rest my stock from time to time, and of course, with the irrigation system out there, we are sort of spoiled, and hardly ever see any bare spots in a pasture," commented Goemans, whose 1951 West Coast foals include some sired by the Australian sire Reading II., Khaled, Cover Up, Four Freedoms, With Regards, Karimkhan and Kings Abbey, and also has some yearlings by the same stallions. In England, the Milwaukee sportsman has Bebe, Calstones dam, and which is by Bois Roussel. She has a suckling filly by Big Game, and has been bred back to Fair Trial for 1952 foaling. He also has a mare by Signal Light, a son of Pharos, and which has been bred to Mirza II. for 1952 foaling. Goemans Eastern unit, quartered at Belmont Park, in charge of Charley Whit-tingham, includes six English and Irish-bred two-year-olds, which are being prepared for their debuts this year. They are by Blue Peter, Blue Train, The Solicitor, Rockefella and Royal Charger, the latter a son of unbeaten Nearco. Goemans plans to be in New York for the Belmont Stakes. G. B. France, who formerly raced a small string of horses on the West Coast, also was a brief visitor to Fort Worth. ■ Piloting an English Jaguar car, he will ; probably go to Virginia before returning to Des Moines, Iowa, where he now has I headquarters.
