ORBIT assumed command at once, drew clear, was steered to the middle of the track for better footing and maintained the lead under intermittent urgiig. SHAKO moved into contention after a quarter mile, responded to seady pressure, but was not good enough. SIAMESE rallied mildly in the late stages. RARE JEWEL closed stoutly along the inside. ARKMO weakened from forcing the pace. SORISKY went evenly. YARMOUTH FLARE, forwardly placed on the outside, failed to respond when put to a drive. THE DRONE was never prominent. RULING TIME and PENNY REWARD were never prominent. BEDA BULL opened a commanding lead at once, saved ground throughout and held on tenaciously. QUEENS TASTE broke sluggishly, was sent up fast on the inside, but was unable to threaten. LONG HILL, forwardly placed, lacked a closing rally WAR TOKEN was qoing well at the end. MODEL HOME taced wide MARVINA K. had no mishap. CURED showed nothing. WILLITSVILLE gained the early lead along the inside, shook off opposition down the backstretch, came out to better going in the stretch and withstood a sustained stretch challenge. GIRDER, steadied while kept within striking distance of the leader, moved readily when roused, but was unable to reach the leader. FORTNIGHT, took back off the pace after being straight3ned in the backstretch, rallied mildly after six furlongs, but was not good enough. SENATOR C went wide in the stretch. FROZEN CUSTARD lacked early speed. RODNEY R. was unable to keep up. TINTINA quit. The others were outrun. EMPTY SEA, showing a liking for the footing, was in hand while racing close to the leader, responded when roused and forged to the front near the end. HEATH FIRE, slow to settle into best stride, closed strongly on the extreme outside. JETROSE broke alertly, was kept under steadying restraint to the final turn, then failed to shake off the opposiion under intermittent pressure. TASSO T. went evenly. JUANA was unable to keep up. The latter mcved along the inside to near contention on the final turn, came to the outside in the drive, but was not good enough. MON TORCH challenged the leader leaving the backstretch, continued to press along the inside, then faltered near the end. BEECH HILL finished with good energy. ARIELS MARK showed nothing.
