Delaware Notes DELAWARE PARK, Stanton, Del., May 29. Trainer J. H. "Slim" Pierce, who handles the thoroughbreds of Frank Rosens Palatine Stable, stated this morning that the good handicap horse, Chicle IT., would be picked up and returned to training within the next week. Pierce also advised that Tease Me Not and Promising had been sent to trainer Eddie Legere at Suffolk Downs. Bobby Mitchell, suspended during the Pimlico meeting, returned to saddle action today and, as usual, will do the bulk of the riding for owner-trainer Alan T. Clarke. Former jockey Eddie Smith has been granted a trainers license and has taken over the string of T. A. Sears, replacing Richard Pending. Main member of the contingent is the two-year-old Ocean Breeze. Senator Joe* a three-year-old who won four races in Maryland this spring, and Jeannie C, a juvenile filly who is unbeaten in a pair of starts, held the string to be campaigned locally by Alan T. Clarke. Freddie Hopkins, who at one time conditioned some of the outstanding thoroughbreds in the country, including Equipoise, is on hand and is employed in the mutuel department. Mrs. Henry Hechts Blue Rhymer is reported to have sustained a knee injury during the running of the Havre de Grace Breeders Stakes at Pimlico. This will, according to word from Maryland, keep her idle for some time. The Pincher, another popular member of the Hecht string, is also ailing, his trouble having been diagnosed as a foot boil. Headed by Cary Boshamers Rancocas Stakes winner, Miss Nosoca, the eight-horse string conditioned by E. H. "Ned" Gaines has checked into the local stabling area. Miss Nosoca, a daughter of Vincen-tive, has but one local engagement, in the Polly Drummond on June 13. Nick Shuk, leading rider on the Maryland circuit this spring, will be active throughout the Delaware Park meeting, according to agent John Wilkie, Ira Hanf ord will swing into action locally with the running of Thursdays race. Han-ford rides for Harry Isaacs Brookfield Farm. Arrivals from New York were William J. Passmore, Richard Dodge and Robert . i . - ... t "Red" Howell, all of whom plan to ride throughout this meting. The first two riders are handled by John.Harkins, while Howell has engaged Nate Gladstone to look after his engagements. Tommy Daly, veteran public address man, will do the calling of the races during this meeting, which runs through July 4. Mr. Trouble, an eligible for the Brandy-win and Sussex Handicaps here, heads the division of, C. V. Whitney thoroughbreds already on the -grounds. Others here are Arabia, Scoreless, Silver Age, Potpourri and Escargo. Among the newcomers at this meeting will be jockey Jimmy "Cowbody" Nichols, who will do the bulk of the- riding for trainer Jim Ryan.
