Mariposa Turns Back Villager In New Jersey Stallion Stakes GARDEN STATE PARK, Camden, N. J., May 29. — Mariposa, a sleek appearing daughter of Jims Boy and Strut, scampered over a watery racing strip this afternoon and captured the fourth running of the~ 0,000 New Jersey Stallion Stakes in a thrilling stretch duel over.Henslee Farms Villager. It was two and one-half lengths hack to John Pons Ace Tip. M. C. Er-landers Boy Genius was another three lengths behind and fourth, with the favorite William G. Helis, Jr.s first-time starter, Val-o-Val,, a distant last in the field of eight. Mariposa, one of the two previous winners included in the field, was somewhat overlooked by the local patrons, and she returned 1.40. Jockey Charles Durando came down from New York for the riding asignment, and acquitted his task well while hustling and scuffling the filly the five furlongs over a sloppy track in 1:00%. Blustery and cool weather, which held a constant threat of storm, discouraged a large turn-out. Those on hand had a tough time of it in selecting a favorite in the majority of the events, and then were unsuccessful after making their luke-warm choices. » * 1 1 - i 3 * ~ * [ a * r % * J *
