. — Rare Bid Extends Her Winning Streak to Three at Washington Mrs. Emicks Recent Claim *" Has Three Lengths Margin On First Tenet in Billings WASHINGTON PARK, Homewood, 111., May 29. — The five-year-old mare, Rare Bid, established-her right to be classed as. the most consistent performer at this meeting when she registered her third consecutive success at this track in winning the featured race today. Racing for the first time in the silks of Mrs. G. H. Emick, who recently claimed her, Rare Bid remained unbeaten at this session when she scored handily over seven others in the Billings, so named for the stake star of a few years back. With jockey Job Dean Jes-sop riding for his second triumph of the afternoon, the daughter of Psychic Bid scooted under the wire three lengths in advance of William Bishops First Tenet. In third place came Myron Smiths Bano-vina, who served as the early pacemaker. While the field in the Billings was noth-, ing to write the folks about, it proved a "toughie" for the public selectors and Road-runrier was favored at 4 to 1 odds at the horses reached the post. Aurora Deb got the bulge at the beginning but was soon headed by Banovina and Rare Bid and that pair drew out to make it virtually a two-horse contest to the last 50 yards when First Tenet, who had been off poorly, closed with a rush. Roadrunner did not appear to be able to untrack himself in the going, while Brezno, of whom something had been expected, performed like, a percheron. The distance was seven furlongs. Attendance of 7,892 A break in weather conditions sent at- . tendance figures up a mite, with a total of 7,892 being congregated in the stands and clubhouse. The track was so heavy that it failed to improve to any great extent as the afternoon wore on, and it seemed doubtful if it would be fast for the running of the Memorial Day bill on the morrow. Favorites failed with consistency and disregarded runners revelled in the heavy going in the early races with the first successful horse paying 17.20 and partially accounting for a ,486.80 Daily Double. ; Quick Cash was the long shot winner and he left no doubt as to his superiority in accounting for the opener simply breezing away from his field in the stretch, while the heavily backed Delhannah was floundering in fourth place at the end. Nifty completed the combination in connecting with like leisure in the second, with the well-played Garrett C. unplaced. Kathleen R., longest shot on* the board, lasted to win the third race after leading all the way. The favored Moon Baby * seemed best in this, however, but her rider was unable to find an opening in the early running and the miss was forced to come quite wide in the stretch. As it was she was beaten but a half length. The choices were in the ruck again in the fourth, with Belcon, an in-and-out maiden, never being close to the pace at any stage. Stager-ring In was a clever winner here, with Neb Jr., another outsider, being second. Jockey Harold Keene brought Show Place home in front by six lengths in the fifth, while the public choice, Dominion, was unable to finish in the first four. Show Place took over early and was never headed.
