CHALLCOTE, away alertly, lacked speed early to remain prominent, improved position from the outside when gaining best stride and drew away after displacing MIGHTY SON. The latter forced his way through on the rail to reach the lead, opened a comfortable advantage in the stretch and faltered. REVENGER improved position rapidly on the outside on the turn, veered in midway of the drive and lasted to be best of the others. QUIRINUS had to be steadied while in a trifle close between horses early, then lacked a closing rally. STAR PRINCE began sluggishly and caught tired horses. SKY RADUS was rushed up on the outside from the slow start and tired. PORT JACKSON had early speed and gave way: IDEAL turned in an unaccountably dull effort. LUCKY BOJO had speed for a ■ half mile and quit. TRESPASS gained a narrow lead when COUNT GALLA weakened, then shortened strides in the late stages. YUTU had no excuse. BATTLEBUZ dropped back after breaking alertly. QUIET went into command nearing the second fence when ESCARP left the course, held a slight advantage on the inside and outgamed FONDA. The latter was reserved early, went up to challenge boldly when ready, but was not good enough. FURTHERMORE was never far back, but lacked a closing rally. PRETENDER tired badly. SHORT CIRCUIT bore out badly nearing the third fence and left the course shortly after clearing this obstacle. KIPPER left the course nearing the second fence, completed the race and finished fourth, then was disqualified. ESCARP left the course nearing the second fence. GUN MOLL was on nearly even terms for the lead early, but was no match for the winner when the. real test came. M.ISS PENSIVE raced forwardly on the outside to be best of the others. RECESS was knocked back at the start and should improve off the effort. AFTER YOU tired, as did CLASS LEADER. WAR-ASTER came out sharply just after the start. MOHDUMA showed little. EASY WHIRL was on nearly even terms for the lead, then was eased back after a furlong, came around the leaders entering the stretch, veered in when taking a clear lead at the furlong post and won fully extended. PROSPECT, a sharp factor on the inside, went through on the rail entering the stretch and was on nearly even terms for the lead between calls, but was not good enough. GRAPHIC swung slightly wide leaving the turn and tired in the drive. MISSION vied for the lead for a half mile and gave way. FATHER TIBER, well ridden, was within striking .distance on the rail, forced his way between the leaders and gained command just inside the furlong post and lasted over ALPHABETICAL. The latter, a sharp factor on the outside, displayed a tendency to bear in when engaging the leaders in the stretch and just missed. LADY JACOPO raced wide rounding the turn and closed strongly on the outside. SPRINGTALE weakened after setting the pace until the stretch. PRINCESS BLY had good speed until midstretch and gave way. SIR GREEK, knocked back sharply at the start, forged between horses along the backstretch and was through after a half mile. ISOPERA showed little. NEPAL was forced out by LADY JACOPO and quit. MANDINGO raced on nearly even terms for the lead on the rail, shook off BIG INDIAN when ready and won under brisk handling. DULAT, * under restraint while never far back, went between horses to be closest to the winner, but lacked a rally. BIG INDIAN swung slightly wide leaving the turn, bore in midway of the drive and faltered. TUFFEROO, eased back nearing the turn, made a mild bid on the rail when called upon and weakened. FANBOROUGH ran wide on the turn when tiring. BLACKTYPE was through after six-furlongs. BLUE ROXY trailed, followed FANBOROUGH cut and showed nothing. EIGHTH RACE 1 1-8 MILES. SALAZA saved ground under restraint, was brought out for the drive and finished best of the others. QUICK RETORT tired after making the pace early. BY ROAD went through on the rail rounding the turn and faltered in the drive. BEAUSY tired, as did DARING MAID.
