Stake Winners Coming Back to Monmouth Park Battlefield, Arise, Post Card Returning; Closing Date Today OCEANPORT, N. J., May 31.— As the deadline nears for Mondays closing of nominations to Monmouth Parks 1952 stakes schedule, racing secretary John Turner, Jr. is findinig many of last years handicap winners among early eligibles. A year older, many are moving into the more seasoned groups of the turf as they edge up in the age brackets to make room for the youngsters coming on. Of Monmouth Parks calendar of 18 stakes, three are brand new this season, and by Monday midnight, June 2 final tabulations are expected to bring a record number of entries in most of the scheduled events. All told, the track will distribute 05,000 in stakes, a healthy increase of 05,000 over last years total. Among the 1951 stakes winners, expected to return in events for which they are fc- -ing made eligible, are such turf notables as George D. Wideners Battlefield, winner of the Choice Stakes; the Addison Stables Arise, victor in the Monmouth Handicap, Mrs. Walter Jeffords Post Card, the Omnibus winner and Bedford Stables Call Over, successful in last seasons renewal of the Salvator Mile. Sprinters from the 1951 stakes winning ranks likely to be named include Green-trees Northern Star who scored in the Select a year ago; William G. Helis, Jr.s Val-pam, home first in the Rumson and Mrs. S. M. Pistorios Tuscany who won the Oceanport. Star-Enfin, who carried the Brae Burn Farms colors to. glory in the Colleen Stakes, looms as a stout contender for such races as the Miss Woodford, Monmouth Oaks and Regret while Landseair., victor in the Sapling Stakes, probably will be named for all three-year-old fixtures. The three new stakes on the Monmouth Park roster are the 5,000 Miss Woodford for three-year-old fillies at six furlongs, the 5,000-Tyro Stakes for two-year-old colts and geldings, six furlongs, and the 0,000 Longfellow Handicap, three-and-up at a mile over the turf course. Monmouth Park opens on June 14 with the 5,000 Oceanport Handicap at three-quarters of a mile, and closes on August 9 with the 5,000 Sapling Stakes, increased from last years 0,000 endowment. In between will be sandwiched renewals of the Omnibus, Regret, Rumson, Monmouth, Colleen, Select, New Jersey Futurity, Molly Pitcher, Long Branch, Lamplighter, Monmouth Oaks, Choice Stakes and Salvator Mile. Pinal nominations for all of these races plose Monday, June 2, and racing secretary Turner expects to have the nominating lists available within a few davs after the closine*
