He was a winner of six races last year. Best Doings won here on May 23 for his second victory of the year, then finished fourth to Can Locate, Lucky Codine and Happy East in his next start on May 26. The last named scored his second victory of the season at Hawthorne on May 21, which, with a previous win on April 18 at Gulfstream made it two in a row for the Bouchard horse. Won at Downs on May 2 At Churchill Downs on May 2 Convidado won his first race of the 1952 season. His latest win prior to that was at Hawthorne last fall at the direct expense of Bashful Sun, one of his rivals in the War Minstrel Monday. The six-year-old Flap Not, only member of her sex in the War Minstrel, won early in the year and scored another at Laurel on April 22, and has shown considerable improvement over her 1951 form. Kanza won on the grass course at Hialeah, and "Battle H., bred by his Oklahoma owner, won at Oaklawn. He finished Second in three recent starts. The Hygro Purse is named for the sensationally fast son of the French race horse and sire, Epinard, who made three round trips between his native France, and America during his career, and was an aged casualty of the late war.
