One Hitter May Seek Repeat In Massachusetts Handicap SUFFOLK DOWNS, East Boston, Mass., May 31. — Greentree Stables One Hitter looms as the second repeat winner of the famed Massachusetts Handicap in June 11. Winner of the big Suffolk Downs handicap last year, One Hitter proved that he is ready for a repeat effort by capturing the 0,000 Suburban Handicap at Belmont Park. He whipped a standout field, including Crafty Admiral, Mameluke, Battlefield, Donor and Alerted among others. If One Hitter accepts the Massachusetts Handicap challenge, and there is every indication he will, he could join First Fiddle as the only double winner in the history of the race. Chafran Stables Crafty Admiral also moves into the picture as a Massichusetts Handicap threat. This hard-hitting four-year-old Fighting Fox colt almost stole the Suburban before losing out by a neck to One Hitter after leading four lengths turning for home. In his prior start he finished second to Alerted. This year in 10 starts, he has five victories and three seconds. Weights for the Massachusetts Handicap will be released by racing secretary Owen "Eb" Pons next Thursday and within 48 hours the definite starting field should begin to take shape. Cobbles Stables Abstract and T. W. Smiths Simms, winner of the Memorial Day Tomasello Handicap, are both said to be definite starters in the Massachusetts.
