Lincoln, R. I.. May 8. — Mrs. E. E. Robbins-Midafternoon. latest Cinderella horse in the handicap division, has-been allotted the high weight of 127 pounds for the 0.000-added Lincoln Special, major event of this 60-day meeting and first rich prize of the New England racing season. Midafternoon, unbeaten in his two starts this year including the Excelsior Handicap, will be asked to caiTy the second highest weight burden of his career in this mile and one-sixteenth test which will be run here on closing day. Monday, May 20, and will be forced to con--cede the other 29 nominees from four to 27 pounds. It is one pound less than he has been assigned for the Grey Lag at Jamaica on Saturday. The Lincoln Special closed with 31 nominations but Racing Secretary Gordon Morrow this morning received word from Calumet connections to declare Fa-|bius, with the result that Morrow did not weight the four-year-old son of Citation. His defection was prompted by the dull effort that he turned in. in the Valley Forge Handicap at Garden State last Saturday. Next in line to Midafternoon is Maine Chance Farms Jet Action with 123 pounds. The six-year-old son of Jet Pilot carried this same impost to victory in the six-fur-longPaumonok Handicap at Jamaica in his seasonal bow. He then was beaten slightly less than three lengths in the Excelsior while burdened with 126 pounds. Scored in Palm Beach Formella Stables Switch On gets in with 120 pounds as he makes a return visit to Yankeeland after a successful whirl in the handicap ranks in New York and Florida the past two years. Switch On earned his racing spurs on the local circuit as a juvenile and sophomore and then went on to greater fame in othe racing centers. He finished sixth in the Excelsior, beaten four and one-half lengths while carrying 122 pounds. His only triumph this year, occurred in the Palm Beach Handicap at Hialeah. * Mauro and Bowens Fabricator, scheduled to compete in the Allentown Purse at Garden State Park this afternoon, follows with 111 pounds. J. J. Crowleys First Served surprise victor in the Royal Palm Handicap at Hialeah along with a pair of allowance triumphs this year, and fourth in the Laurel Handicap, will carry 114 pounds along with Mrs. Ethel Jacobs Paper Tiger. From the New England brigade. Mclvor Pricketts Motor Line heads that contingent with 113 pounds. Motor Line has a win and a second in his two apperances this year. Wise Margin, who was generally considered top banana on this circuit last year, gets in with 112 pounds. He has yet to make his initial start of the year. Mrs. Joseph Le-1 ones courageous Rockcastle who has been showing the form that enabled him to take down top honors in the Yankee Handicap two years ago. is scheduled to tote 111 pounds while William Beatties New Eng-i land-bred Park Dandy gets in with 106 pounds.
