— -4 _ Cousin Con Easy I Winner of Geisha Qualifies in Handsome Style For Black Eyed Susan; Holds Hoosier Honey Safe Distance By PALMER HEAGERTY PIMLICO, Baltimore. Md.. May 8.— Dhu Van-en Farms Cousin Con was an impressive winner of this afternoons featured Geisha Purse, qualifying handsomely for the 0,000-added Black Eyed Susan to be renewed next Wednesday. The daughter of Wait a Bit had everything her own way as she coasted to the end of a mile and a sixteenth in l:45li. Three and one-half lengths behind the winner came Roy R. Hunts Hoosier Honey, following which there was a gap of four lengths back to Knollwood Stables Brandy Fib. Winner of four of her nine races last season and coming from a clever Laurel victory. Cousin Con was backed into .20 favoritism by the shirt-sleeved crowd of 9,854. She was handled by Eldon Nelson, who probably will ride her when she fulfills her engagement in the Black Eyed Susan. Slipperoo Shows Early Speed Tom Girdlers Slipperoo had the speed to outsprint the opposition to the first turn but her stay in front lasted for less than five furlongs, following which she was displaced by Cousin Con. The latter left nothing in doubt as she clearly outclassed the field while bouncing to victory. There was little excuse for any member of the field, with the exception of Christiana Stables Cloud Nine. This one was well back for five furlongs and was just commencing her rally when apprentice Reggie Root sent her into a blind switch. The Half Crown — Enchanted Eve filly was taken up sharply and deprived of what chance she may have had of entering serious contention. AlanT. Clarke, popular Maryland owner-trainer-breeder, scored his initial success of j the season when he sent out Brighton Dam to account for the six-furlong sixth race in galloping fashion. The three-year-old son of Fritz Maisel and My Year, by Johnstown, disposed of early opposition and finished almost five lengths clear in 1:1216 to return .40. Bobby Mitchell handled the w inner, who was followed by Lewis A. Hancocks Party Punch and Mrs. Raffaele De-Marcos Singing Bush.
