Curry Wins Chester Cup With Queens Horse Second Special to DaHv Racing Form CHESTER. England. May 8 Reuters. — H. J. Honours six-year-old Curry today win the Chester Cup. oldest handicap with one exception in British racing. The Queens four-year-old colt. Atlas, favorite j at 5 to 2. was six lengths behind in second place with Maj. Lionel B. Holidays four-year-old Combatant third. The race was established in 1824 as the Tradesmans Plate and today carried first | prize money of ,010 and nine guinas worth of Cheshire cheese. Throughout its long history, the Ches- : ter Cup over 18 furlongs, 77 yards, rarely has been won by a horse making all the lunning but this was done today by the j ll-to-4 second choice. About four furlongs j from home it looked as though it might be a Royal victory for the first time when Harry Carr brought Atlas into second place, but Curry responded immediately to Josh Gifford and strode away to win easily.
