Horses From Post Six Win Six Races at Ascot Park Daily Double Has Two Pay-Offs As Dead Heat Occurs in Second By W. A. CRUSE ASCOT PARK. Cuyahoga Falls. Ohio. May 8. — The numerologists would have had a field-day here this afternoon when the post position No. 6 won in five consecutive races. In the first race, the first half of the Daily Double, the Ben-Jo Stables Son Joss and jockey Clarence Roberts came out of the No. 6 slot and galloped to the wire four and one -half furlongs in front of their closest rival, Mrs. B. Korings Night Tracer and jockey Guy Smithson. The time for the six and one-half furlongs was 1:22 flat and as the odds-on favorite, Son Joss-rewarded his host of supporters with a .60, .60 and .20 across the board return. The first dead heat of the current meeting to win was registered in the second race, thus producing the first "double" Continued on Page Forty-Few Horses From Post Six Win Six Races at Ascot Park Daily Double Has Two Pay-Offs As Dead Heat Occurs in Second Continued from Page Fifty-Two Daily Double return. Mrs. F. E. Fitzgeralds Flag Man and jockey Carl Landers were in post position No. 1 and the Cremona Farms Blue Tuneand jockey Owen Headley were the 6." On even terms, the pair were two and one-half lengths the best of P. Holthus Formal Post. The 6-1 combination of Son Joss and Flag Man was worth 5.20 and the 6-6 ticket of Son Joss and Blue Tune rewarded 7.60. The third number six to score was C. S. Jones Aldenson. This well-seasoned veteran of racing and jockey Thomas Latta-rulo held a two and one-quarter length lead on Mrs. G. Proskawers Tippitoes in the third race. Comparatively overlooked in the betting, those who "vibrated" to the number were rewarded 9.20. Buck Thornburg. the fourth leading rider of the meeting, piloted the fourth horse to come from the number six gate in the form of the Cremona Farms Everest. He setn this seven-year-old Orthodox gelding six and one-half furlongs in l:213/5 and in an extended stretch drive had a half length on C. Sims Oneinamillion and Ray Belanger at the wire. Again a fairly handsome 6.60 was the reward for the nominal investment. Owen Headley, the leading reinsman at the W. L. Dorseys Suiturself and jockey meeting, with 24 wins, including Suiturself, proved that it could happen five times in a row. After he reached the wire a length an done -half in front of M. M. Testas Fleet Cress and jockey Harry Stauf-fer. the "six" was again flashed, along with a .20. .60 and .80 acress the board pay-off. The sixth number six post position on the program, scored in the seventh even when By Herself, ridden by the capable apprentice Mike Koptyra beat out Dotty N. by two lengths, while Big Bunny finished third. Time of the race was 1:29 for the seven furlongs.
