MUNCHAUSEN raced nearest BIG SWEEP and saved ground to the stretch, attained command after settling for the drive and, responding to strong handling, held INVALIDATE safe but won with little left. INVALIDATE, in hand while racing within striking distance of the leaders to the stretch, closed extremely fast in the middle of the track but was unable to reach the too one. PRECIOUS STONE, shuffled back approaching the stretch, was sent between horses during the drive and "closed determinedly but could not over take INVALIDATE. DRU AWAY, away sluggishly and forced wide entering the stretch, made up ground when straightened for the drive. BERNBURGOO saved ground throughout but could not reach serious contention. BIG SWEEP began fast, set the pace to the stretch while engaging MUNCHAUSEN, then failed to stay. GRANDPAW tired after racing lorwardly placed to tne stretch. A. Hikes; bred by S. B. Ott. IN GATE-5:27. OFF AT 5:27 CENTRAL DAYLIGHT TIME. Start good. Won driving; second and third the same. MIGHTY WARRIOR saved ground while in hand to the last three-eighths mile, was taken to the outside for the stretch run and, responding to brisk handling, wore down IRISH SEA in the last strides. IRISH SEA took command at once, settled in the stretch with a short lead after disposing of DOUBLE PROPHET and continued gamely but could not hold the winner and just missed. DOUBLE PROPHET, well placed from the outset, made a good bid in the early stretch, then faltered. ASTHORE tired after showing early foot. BLUE LAW raced well to the stretch but had nothing left for Lhe drive. PINESTAR showed nothing. GALFOR raced far back the entire trip. Overweight— Asthore, 4 pounds. Irish Sea claimed by G.
