Spring Fever Looms Solid Fort Miami Choice Today Consistent Guciardo Performer Trying for Fifth Tally of Meet By T. J MULLIGAN FORT MIAMI. Maumee, Ohio, May 8. — The Perrysburg Purse, a mile and 70 yards test for four-year-olds and older thoroughbreds, gets top billing on Thursdays nine-race card. Listed as the eighth race, eight will vie for the major portion of the purse. The ninth race is also a middle distance event at a mile and a sixteenth with the balance of the program confined to the sprinters. Spring Fever, a seven-year-old bay mare owned by Frank Guciardo, will probably go postward as a solid favorite in the main event and on the basis of her splendid performances here should have little difficulty showing the way to her rivals. Spring Fever is the only four-time winner at the meeting. Jockey Kenny Robertson, who has been riding sensationally at Fort Miami and who is leading rider with 41 victories to his credit, will again handle the steady going daughter of Blow Me. Vita Crisp, who races under the banner of W. Needham, scored a surprise victory here last Saturday and this daughter of Bastinado is at peak form as that winning essay attests. She will carry one pound less than she did last Saturday and will travel the same distance as she did in her winning endeavor. Jockey Jose Martinez, the Cuban saddlesmith who so capably handled Vita Crisp in her last outing, will be in the saddle irons and this combination may prove troublesome.
