Wade attended a meeting of the board of directors of the Kentucky Jockey Club, which will operate the new track at Latonia. He will serve in an official capacity when that organization unveils its inaugural meeting in 1958. Wade was accompanied to the press box by Matt Winn Williamson, president of the Lttonia course, who stated that others interested in the new track included Freeman Keyes, H. H. Mundy, James Paddock, and Harry Trotsek. All are listed as track directors. According to the visitors, work at Latonia has been resumed. Ground clearing operations had to be suspended for several months because of heavy rainfall and deep mud. Steel for the grandstand is already on the grounds, and actual erection is due to get underway late this month. "We deeply regret we are unable to launch the Latonia track this season, as originally planned," Williamson said, "but this delay will give us plenty of time to have everything completely ready in 1958, and racing patrons will find the course in perfect condition at that time. The stands will seat approximately 8,000, and will be complete with escalators, elevators, handsome lounges and many other conveniences." j
