Kays Choice Graduates In ThistleDown Sprint Withstands Bid of Bachelor Club For Head Score and Pays 5.00 By PAT CAUDILL THISTLEDOWN, North Randall, Ohio, June 3. After her full brother, Kays Jeep, was destroyed as a result of a broken leg following the running of the first race today, Leo J. Caillouettes Kays Choice, a three-year-old daughter of Vincentive Kaytrel, scored a head verdict in the fifth event, a mile test drawing seven sophomores. Ridden by apprentice Michael Roffo, Kays Choice gamely withstood the late bid of the strongly favored Bachelor Club, owned by Mrs. Dolores Knight and returned her backers with a 5.00 win mutuel. Bachelor Club, ridden by Evan Anyori and striving for her second victory of the meeting, was on the inside when making a bold attempt through the stretch and while unable to overtake the Caillouette representative held the place position by and length and one-half over the strongly-closing Saville Row, racing for Mrs. A. Roberts. Approximately 5,000 fans turned out to view the .first Mondays card of this meeting and again the weather conditions were perfect with a fast track prevailing. The meeting swung into its second week with records running well in advance of last year with the mutuel wagering showing an increase of 18 per cent and a daily average of slightly over 05,000. Again a huge pay-off came in the Daily Double return as the result of a rank outsider, Noble Court, sporting the silks of Mrs. Audrey Feigenbaum, winning the first race, a-maiden two-yeai-old event for colts I and geldings and paying 9.40 to win. Noble Court, coupled with Mrs. E. B. Shipps Blaster, favorite and winner of the second race paying .20 to win, returned 03.20 for those who had coupled the pair in the Daily Double wagering for a 5-2 combination.
