E. Gay Drakes speedy Dogoon will be out to make amends Tuesday when he heads a six-horse field in Balmorals featured ,500 Gallois Purse. Dogoon disappointed here a week ago, finishing last at six furlongs, but the fleet five-year-old son of The Doge Swoon was making his 1957 bow and refused to extend himself over the off ti;ack. On Tuesday, he tangles with Colin McLeod Jr.s Besomer, third to Swoons Son in the recent Citation, and Walmac Farms Hasseyampa in the seven-furlongs Gallois that is billed as the fourth race. Mrs. Harvey C. Fruehaufs Ratheram, Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Fischbachs Frosty Mr., and Alamode Farms Ja Ja complete the field. All are. non-winners this year. Co-feature Tuesday is a middle-distance grass event, the Cobbler, valued at ,000, which drew eight horses, including two couplings, Hasty House Farms entry of Platan and Innishowen and Mrs. Russell L. Reinemans Bozi and Lepafort. River Divide Farms Old Roman, J. Zit-niks Manassas, F. M. Kruegers Whacking and R. E. Harrisons Pure Pleasure complete the one and one-sixteenth miles Cobbler field. Tired in Stretch in Last Dogoon was a tiring and unresponsible seventh and last here a week ago Saturday m a six-furlongs allowance test won by Vagabond King. The Drake color bearer broke quickly and led until the stretch before calling it a day. Dogoon holds the tracks seven-furlongs track record of 1:21, set two years ago, and if the track is fast, he figures to be the one to catch. Last year, Dogoon started 15 times and won five events, including the Chicago Handicap at Hawthorne. Besomer is razor sharp for Tuesdays spnnt. The Double Jay colt was a close-up third in the recent one -mile Citation beateh narrowly by Swoons Son and Sea O Erin. It was Besomers fifth start this year. However, he has been in the money in every start and was a third behind Tel-lanan and Impromptu in the Valley Forge Handicap at Garden State. Hasseyampa has made three starts this year. The six-year-old was a poor sixth here two weeks ago as the heavy favorite at six furlongs. Earlier, he was fourth to Munchausen in the one and one-sixteenth miles Louisville Handicap, prior to which he was unplaced in the Churchill Downs Handicap won by Swoons Son. Ratheram was second to Bernburgoo at Churchill Downs. It was his fourth start Ja Ja, winner of last years Illinois Owners Handicap at Hawthorne, has not won " in three starts. m Frosty Mr. has not been to the winners circle since scoring in the Chesapeake Stakes two years ago at Laurel. In the Cobbler, Manassas will shoot for 5S? scnd straight Balmoral grass victory. The Bull Run colt swept past the field from ie?!5,IiIace at the turn to win easily in 1:10 for six furlongs. Platan, who won the 1955 Arlington Handicap tver the grass, is winless this year, showing a fourth in the Gulfstream Park Handicap as his best race. He was scratched from Saturdays Continental.
