Rosewood Set for Delaware Oaks Works Five Panels Sunday in 1:00 Hubcap, Sew It Up Also in Speedy Trials for Stakes; Bewitch Purse Tests Seven By PALMER IIEAGERTY DELAWARE PARK, Stanton, Del., June 3. With Iron Liege and Gen. Duke on the shelf, and Barbizon -a candidate to join them following, his dismal showing in Saturdays Kent Stakes, the Calumet Farm forces can now concentrate on the three-year-old filly, Rosewood, for her f orthcom- ing engagement in the 5,000 added Delaware Oaks. This daughter of Bull Lea and Easy Lass, thus an own-sister to Coaltown, is improving rapidly and should be at peak form for the mile and a furlong Oaks renewal on Saturday, June 15. She was on the local track during training hours Sunday morning and was quite impressive with five furlongs in 1:00. After a quarter in :24 and three-eighths in :36, -Rosewood put in a furlong in :11, with :12 required for the final panel. Raced Mile and 70 Yards in Slop in 1 :44 Always highly regarded by trainer Jimmy Jones, Rosewood has been a bit slow in learning, according to her capable mentor. She started to improve late in the Florida season, then won her only two outings at Garden State. In the first one, she covered a mile and 70 yards in 1:44 while winning by three lengths, then won by five in the slop in time of 1:44 flat. She was not made eligible for the New Castle nor the Delaware Handicap, the Calumet .forces electing to stand on the older members of the distaff, Princess Turia and Amoret, both of whom are on the grounds. One of the most pleasing week-end works was the Sunday move credited to Hubcap, owned by the Elkcam Stable of the Mackle Bros. This Florida-bred son of Boodle and Rub-Adub-Dub was timed in :59 for five furlongs, suggesting that he will figure prominently in the Christiana and Dover Stakes, each of which carries 0,000 in added money. In five starts this season, Hubcap has not been worse than fourth, his lone victory coming in the Florida Breeders- at Hialeah during the winter. Stanley Sagners Sew It Up, who lost some prestige when a beaten favorite during the opening days of this meeting, regained stature with her Sunday morning move of three furlongs.
