Sophomores Take Over ThistleDown Spotlight Elyria Purse Attracts Capacity Field; Foxy Scent Nicely Placed By Staff Correspondent THISTLEDOWN, North Randall, Ohio, June 3. A capacity field of sophomores make up the field for the Elyria Purse, top offering of tomorrows eight-race, prqgram. Carded as the seventh event, the Elyria offers a purse of ,700 and will be contested at five and one-half furlongs, with the contestants entered for claiming prices ranging from ,000- down to ,750. Strongly supporting the Elyria is another sprint, claiming affair with seven evenly matched racers entered for claiming prices of ,500. With the exception of the third race, a maiden event xfor three, four and five-year-olds, the program is an all-claiming card. T. D. Buhls Foxy Scent, a winner here Friday when she easily accounted for a ,000 claiming event, will again be handled by Evan Anyon, and appears nicely placed for a repeat effort in the Elyria. The Buhl representative will not find things top easy as she is matched against R. Loughlins Double, to be ridden by Thomas Lattarulo; Courtney Burtons Real Pavot, with Vernon Bush as the pilot, and J. L. Sheltons Freight Hauler, who will have the saddle services of apprentice James Choina. Mrs. M. Calvos Phararule is listed as a scheduled starter with the same owners Pepos Jet appearing on the also-eligible list. The balance of the field includes D. Sheas Star Dream, F. E. Harpers Cella Dream, a winner at Beulah Park; J. Mab-rys Youths Hope, Mrs. F. T. Johnsons Turakina, Mrs. A. Roberts Phil Bluefeld, G. Bill Jr.s Dream Deb and Audley Farms Should We. Along with Pepos Jet, Mrs. H. A. Mitchells Questing completes the also-eligible list. In the sixth race, V. S. Lytles Beaver- dam, H. E. Rulons Beau Kay and G. D. McClears Melzar appear the top threats in the event. Melzar was a starter here on opening day and was beaten less than a length by the hard-hitting Legate and from that effort is very likely to rule post-time favorite. Post time for the first race will be as usual 2:15 p.m. EDT.
