Owensboro Purse Features Program at Audubon Park Joes Miss Meets Lively Lou, Four Others at Sprint Distance By MEL COHEN AUDUBON PARK, Henderson, Ky., June 3. The Owensboro Purse, for three-year-olds and upwards, features the resumption of racing here Tuesday afternoon after the customary dark day on Monday. Claimers of the better grade are slated to meet in the six and one-half furlongs event, scheduled as sixth on the program. The track was drying out rapidly after I the showers of the week end and, with another cloudy day forecast, a slow strip was predicted for tomorrow. A. Spares Joes Miss, who showed a sparkling effort in the Decoration Day Handicap on opening day despite her eventual third to the odds-on choice, K. Harringtons Rip Luck, appears to have a slight edge in this contest. The Joes Choice Aerado filly, with a record of two seconds and a third out of five starts this year, gets in with a mere 109 pounds. Apprentice James Ring is slated to handle the filly and she will break from an advantageous inside post position. P. Holtus Lively Lou, in seeking her first victory of the year, will undoubtedly draw strong support despite the fact that she meets older horses. The miss has several good training moves to her credit and the assignment of 112 pounds should further enhance her possibilities. Jotkey Guy Smithson, the current riding leader here, has been engaged to handle the Holtus entrant. The balance of the field is made up of Howell and Hardestys Swift Summer, R. A. Fawcetts Garalorter, J. Williamsons Dashing Don, all weighted at 115 pounds, and A. Sarmentos Persephone, in with 114.
