Reuters .John Hay Whitneys five-year-old Clear River, a 6-to-l chance, won the 774 Off ham Handicap over five furlongs here today. Ridden by Billie Elliott Clear River made practically all the running- and won comfortably by three lengths from J. M. Abbotts Drake, 20-to-l shot, with J. R. H. Bakers Cranford Cross, 7-to-4 favorite, a length farther away in third place in the field of 11. The winner was trained by G. Balding at Andover, Hampshire.
